FAQS

How is Zeaware Monitor for Power BI deployed?
Zeaware Monitor for Power BI is deployed within the customers own environment running as a container app. This is an important enterprise consideration as the solution runs within the customers environment, this allowed Power BI access to be controlled an limited to external users. All monitoring data is retained with the customers environment and is not shared with Zeaware.
How does a Power BI monitoring tool notify users about issues?
Zeaware Monitor for Power BI can raise alerts using multiple methods. This includes raising alerts via Azure Monitor if this has been configured and integrated with ITSM tools. Alternatively, alerts can be raised by email using SendGrid or a local SMTP server.
Does Zeaware Monitor for Power BI track usage patterns and trends over time?
Yes, Zeaware Monitor for Power collects and retains Power BI log and usage stats in a local database. This information is available to authorised users via Zeaware Monitor for Power BI dashboards and reports which allow slicing and dicing and trend analysis.
Why Monitor Power BI?
Most enterprises have stringent data governance policies relating to core data assets which control who, how and why people can access. However, when those data assets are made available through Power BI, organisations can lose control of the data governance process as data is shared by users to other users directly. Without proper Power BI monitoring many organisations will struggle to answer basic “who has access to what” questions, which may cause issues with audit and compliance.
